Server Engineer, Supercell ID Team

We're looking for an experienced Server Engineer to join our in-house development team for Supercell ID. The Supercell ID team is an independent product team developing an account service for players to connect to games and to other players. The service is live in all Supercell games and we are actively adding new layers to offer players and games more value, by keeping their accounts safe and staying connected.

The ideal addition to the Supercell ID team shares an approach that solutions are not just about code. We practise DevOps and believe that delivering end-to-end solutions is the most rewarding and efficient way to get results. To do so, we require people with extensive technical expertise, ability to work independently, and commitment to follow through on big ideas. As when you join any team at Supercell, you'll have the freedom, responsibility, and the tiny pressure of being the CTO of your own work.

  • Design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of a scalable, highly available and secure account service for millions of users
  • Collaborating with team members and game developers to clarify and define concepts, use cases and requirements
  • Offer 24/7 first-line support of the production environments, as part of a rotating on-call duty

  • Experience in designing, developing, operating and maintaining a production system
  • Excellent programming skills – minimum of 5 years experience with server-side backends, preferably in Java
  • Good experience with Linux shell and scripting languages
  • Experience with cloud computing, preferably AWS
  • Ability to think clearly under pressure. We aim for minimal downtime in our core systems. You are expected to be able to respond to and troubleshoot a wide range of issues in a production environment
  • Being passionate and committed to tasks, and in general an autonomous person with high levels of initiative and energy
  • Ability to manage priorities and tight deadlines with incomplete data
  • An open and respectful attitude towards others and their work

  • Enthusiasm towards games in general

About Supercell
We are a mobile game developer based in Helsinki, Finland, with offices in San Francisco, Seoul and Shanghai. Since our launch in 2010, we've released five games globally – Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale and Brawl Stars.
To make five games, we've killed dozens along the way. That's because we're obsessed with quality. Our goal is to make the best games – games that are played by millions, enjoyed for years and remembered forever. To achieve this goal, we create the best possible teams and give them the freedom and independence that are core to our success.
