Senior Web Engineer, Creator Platform

We are looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join our Community Tech Team in Helsinki. The Community team strives to engage and excite players across the globe through multiple platforms in the digital and physical world.

Our team acts as the bridge between the millions of players that play our games and the teams at Supercell who create the magic. Your colleagues are the faces of the games and the ones who advocate for the players within the game teams. We are here to build games and products that our players will love for years and years. To name a few products that you will be contributing to, our Creator Program, Inbox (Web based in-game news), SpellFactory (Deep link service that rewards in-game items) and many others.

We’re now looking for someone to join the team and take our projects to the next level. You will work closely with our game teams, our community managers as well as external consultants and leading digital agencies together with whom we build these services.

Responsibilities

• Prior experience with technical leadership and/or product ownership – familiarity with digital product development is essential
• Design the technical architecture for how these services should be written by both in-house developers and external agencies
• Hands-on approach with programming and software development
• Ensure high quality delivery of said web services
• Continuously evaluate the performance and quality of our partners and provide helpful feedback across the scope: design, architecture, security, backend- and frontend code quality - all the way to the UX
• Contribute to best practices on security, reliability and scaling digital services
• Work in collaboration with the our game teams, the Supercell ID team, our Store team and external digital agencies to deliver seamless player experiences
• We’re a small and nimble team so you will also have the chance to contribute to design and operation of these services

Requirements

• Wide experience working with web technologies and building web services
• Previous experience in writing scalable backends for web applications
• Experience with container orchestration such as Amazon ECS
• Experience writing Infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)
• Experience with Java (or another JVM language) for backend development
• Entrepreneurial mindset (self-motivated, tenacious, resourceful, no handbook necessary)
• An open and respectful attitude towards others and their work
• Passion for games and online communities around games

Nice-to-have experience

• Experience with Linux shell and scripting languages
• Knowledge of network design, security and protocols
• Experience with C++ and game development
• Prior experience in the field of games is a plus but not required as long as you are passionate about games
